The Governor’s Office of Community Initiatives will be hosting our kick-off event at Quiet Water Parks in Annapolis, Maryland. Participants can sign up to volunteer for park cleanup and beautification, register for the 5K or 1 mile Family Fun Run/Walk to benefit Wreaths Across America, or simply come out to support the 9/11 Remember-Honor-Teach Tribute ceremony. We are honored to have Gold Star Mom, Cathy Powers, as our keynote speaker and special runner. Cathy Powers is “Running Fir Wreaths” in loving memory of her son, SRA Bryce Powers, and all veterans past, present, and future. Her goal is to run 1,000 miles across the 50 states, presenting 7,777 wreaths (in honor of each day her son was alive) to heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice. Maryland will be the 42nd state in her year-long journey.
